My name is Kendra Luck and I am the Dogumentarian™ for the greater San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

I specialize in black and white documentary style portraits for people who consider their dog a family member. I use my experience as an award-winning photojournalist to create beautiful one-of-a-kind images. My photographs will capture the charm and character of your dog at a location of your choosing in a piece of quality fine art to cherish for a lifetime.

I prefer to meet my clients and their dogs at a favorite park or playground where I can get to know you and your dog and photograph your dog at play. This "romp" time also serves to calm your dog for when we go home, which is the next step. At home I'll try to get a sense of how your dog behaves and of favorite areas and activities. Please share this information with me when I arrive so I can be prepared to look for and capture those moments.

The process of making pictures at home can require some time. That's okay—the best pictures happen after your dog and I have gotten used to each other. Expect and hour at the park or an outside "romping" location and another hour at home. If I'm photographing more than one dog, it may take more time.

After the photo session I’ll mail you a set of proofs from which to make your final selection. I’m happy to meet with you in person if you need help making choices for your enlargements. You can expect your proofs three weeks after the session and the finished, final prints three weeks after you’ve made your selection and mailed the proof back to me.

PRICING

Prices listed are for the San Francisco Bay Area only, sessions booked beyond that area are subject to additional travel fee.

A full session is $650, it generally includes two locations; a park or favorite play-spot and home and averages 1-½ to 2 hours. It can include a family portrait, lots of candids of dogs or horses, dogs and kids, dogs and family, 3-5 rolls of film, a set of 40-60 proof prints and two 11x14 archival, black-and-white prints.

A base Dogumentarian session is $500. It is similar to the full session except it is limited to one location, requires a little less film and a little less time but can also include a family portrait, 2-3 rolls of film, a set of 30-40 proof prints and one 11x14 archival, black-and-white print.

Our Newest Package-The Puppy Package

The Puppy Package includes a series of three, single location sessions over a 12-month period for $1,200. This package is geared to clients with new puppies who want to capture all those wondrous things their new addition does without the pressure of trying to get all the shots in one session. With this session you will receive a set of proof prints after each session and when all three are done you can select one 11x14 and two 8x10 gelatin silver prints.

A simple family portrait with your dogs, kids and dogs, etc. is $350. This includes one location (either home, park or somewhere "scenic") and includes a straightforward portrait (not as candid as the base or full sessions), generally 2 rolls of film, a set of proof prints and one 8x10 archival, black-and-white print.

All proof prints are 4 x 6 machine printed proofs. Final prints 8x10 or larger are archival gelatin silver prints hand printed by the artist. Additional prints can be purchased at any time. The Dogumentarian works solely in black-and-white and uses traditional film, not digital equipment.
